The Music League

The Music League

At a time when musicians are shunning big labels and the shackles of fleeting record deals with big wigs, The Music League offers a refreshing DIY way of getting more exposure. They seem to be providing a much wanted platform for up coming musicians all over the country. People joining The Music League do so without having to pay a penny or signing any sort of contract….they are simply given a chance to be listened to.

Set up last year by a group of musicians and music lovers The Music League proved to be a hit with musicians and music lovers alike…..so it is returning for another year. The Music League was designed to provide a platform specifically for unsigned musicians who want to share their music and talent with a wider audience. It is also a chance for fans to vote online or with their feet by attending gigs and giving the musicians they like….points.

Here’s how it works.

It is completely free to join the music league they simply ask that you are unsigned and have a passion for performing live. There are 2 phases to the league….the first is the online voting stage where fans and visitors to the site can vote for the act they’d like to go into the second phase. Acts who get through to the second phase will be put into a league table and play a series of gigs in high profile venues around London. For every fan that comes to support a specific act a point is given, neutral people (those not there to see a particular act) can also give their vote to the act that impresses them on the night. These points go into an online League table where  further points can be gained through online votes. After all the gigs have been played and the final show is over….the winner with the most points is announced and will play at a famous UK Festival in the summer!

So playing live and making your way on your own as a musician doesn’t have to be hard when you have the support of a set up such as this. The Music League is a way for friends, family and fans of unsigned musicians to see the fruits of their support… and also maybe get themselves a festival ticket along the way.

It seems the only way to listen to music these days is with your eyes as well as your ears. Who will be at a festival near you? Thats fo you to decide.

If you are an unsigned musician and would like to be involved in TML 2010 please go to: www.themusicleague.co.uk to apply.

It sounds like maybe there was a download problem. You should first look to see if there are any updates through the app store and if not then you should remove and redownload it and it should work fine.
