Hawaii’s own Cheesa Laureta, 21, from Ewa Beach has taken the nation by storm after a number of successful weeks on NBC’s televised singing competition, ‘The Voice.’ With her powerful vocals and bigger-than-life pipes, Cheesa (pronounced Che-sa) is proudly representing Hawaii on a national stage. She is actively seeking the weekly support of her peers and fans to propel her to victory. The talented Hawaii native moved with her family to Los Angeles, CA in 2006. Supported by her parents, Joseph and Tenie, her brother, Troy and her strong faith, her family converted their home into an assisted living facility for the elderly and disabled, affording her the ability to pursue her dream. She hopes to one day repay her family for their sacrifices, and with her recent successes she may soon be able to. Through individual determination, she auditioned for and made strides on NBC’s weekly singing competition, ‘The Voice’. As a member of Grammy-nominated artist, Cee-lo Green’s vocal team, her talents earned her a spot in the Top 12. She was recently saved from elimination by Cee-lo himself, citing that he was unable to let such talent and potential go, proving that her voice is one for the ages.
